4. The Scrap Processing and Recycling Operations are carried out at two locations in Hagerstown, Maryland.
The Antietam Drive facility on the east side of Hagerstown located along Eastern Blvd. one-half mile off of Rt. 40, is equipped to handle obsolete and bulky scrap as well as heavy and prompt industrial scrap steel and/or assorted miscellaneous material. All grades of ferrous scrap solids are handled at this facility. Give us a call at 301-739-5525.
Upon entering the facility one will pass through remote radiation detection equipment and then onto a 60 ft. platform truck scale and an inspection station. The yard layout provides for readily accessible truck movement to the appropriate processing area which may include shearing, heavy torching, sorting and classification, heavy machinery storage processing/and finished material storage.
To accommodate the service requirements for the cranes and mobile equipment at this location, there is a maintenance shop and spare parts storage and service facility located on the premise.
All types of recyclable iron and steel scrap as well as scrap copper, brass, aluminum, and stainless are accepted at this location.
Finished material outbound movements from this location are loaded into trucks or railroad cars and weighed on the respective truck and railroad scales prior to shipment.
The Church Street facility located in Hagerstown, Maryland and readily accessible from U.S. Rt. 40, I-70 and I-81 (301-739-5525) has been designed to handle all types of ferrous and non-ferrous turnings, borings and cuttings.
A "State-of-the-Art" containment pad for storm water control together with an oil-water separator system provides assurance of compliance with current environmental requirements.
The non-ferrous operations at this location feature a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse including baling, sorting and separation equipment. All materials are weighed on a truck scale equipped with radiation detection equipment as well as an in-plant scale for individual barrel weights.
Mobile material handling equipment includes a hydraulic crane, front loader, fork trucks and a truck crane.
Also located at the Church Street facility is our dispatching office and truck fleet parking areas.
Non-ferrous scrap materials handled include coppers, brasses, stainless steels, aluminum, aluminum cans, zinc, die cast, radiators (copper and/or aluminum).
The trucking fleet includes equipment to handle all types of scrap recycling transportation requirements. The power equipment is primarily Mack tractors equipped with hydraulic "wet kits" to handle dump trailers, container trailers and roll-off container equipment. The current fleet includes dump trailers, flat beds, container trailers and over one hundred roll-off containers to serve scrap metal generating industries.
Equipment, drivers and the dispatching station are located at the Church Street facility and service all Maryland Metals locations as well as customer needs associated with all three locations.
